Congress activities take a hit after many leaders test positive

Gandhi Bhavan wears deserted look

HYDERABAD: Covid-19 seems to have struck Congress leaders from the state, ostensibly because of their constant interactions with activists and cadre.
In less than a month, many of the party’s senior leaders have tested positive, including TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Chairman of AICC programmes implementation committee A. Maheshwar Reddy and kisan cell national vice-president M. Kodanda Reddy are among some of the infected, who have recovered. Some are undergoing treatment in hospitals while a few are in home isolation.

Meanwhile, many from the personal staff of leaders, including PAs, drivers, and attenders, have been infected with Covid-19 due to their close proximity with leaders. Quite a few media personnel on Congress beat have also tested positive.

Consequently, the party’s state headquarters Gandhi Bhavan wears a deserted look these days.

TPCC political affairs committee convener Mohammad Ali Shabbir told Deccan Chronicle that they are taking all precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Elderly leaders have all gone in for booster doses, he pointed out.
