Hyderabad: Strange as it may sound, in a bizarre incident, burglars struck a telling blow to the police and TSRTC machinery. In comparative terms, hijacking buses or driving away parked vehicles sounds rather simple.
But the latest incident is rather ironical. An entire bus shelter was apparently ‘stolen’ from Karmanghat area and the matter came to light only when the locals and the regular commuters from the area found it missing.
On Wednesday, one P. Venkatesh, a resident of Sri Hanuman Nagar lodged a complaint with the Saroornagar police. In his complaint, he pointed out that there was a bus shelter at Karmanghat X roads for those travelling towards Santoshnagar.
It was in existence for the last five years, he said.
It is rumoured that in the wee hours of Monday, some unidentified persons removed the iron pipes using gas cutters. He said the culprits could perhaps be traced from CCTV footage. When contacted, Saroornagar Inspector E. Srinivas Reddy confirmed receiving the complaint and said, “We received a complaint about the issue. We will enquire if it was removed as part of any road widening works or it was actually stolen, and then take necessary action.”...
