Thiruvananthapuram Corporation seals hotel after seizure of stale food
Thiruvananthapuram: The health squad under the City Corporation on Tuesday carried out extensive inspections at eateries in the Nanda-ncode Health Circle and sealed a hotel for not maintaining hygiene. The squad sealed Arya Jyothi restaurant near Pattom LIC, which was functioning under unhygienic condition. Corpo-ration secretary L.S. Deepa, in a release issued here, said that traders will not be given renewed licenses if they don’t comply with the mandatory guidelines.
According to officials, several of the customers who were having food at the restaurant complained about the low-quality food being served at the hotel. The squad seized stale dosa dough, chapatti and other raw materials which were unsuitable for consumption. The official said that the condition of the kitchen was pathetic and the hotel employees were living under deplorable condition. “None of the workers had the health-card or had undergone medical check-up which is mandatory,” the release said.
The squad also seized stale beef, mutton and other raw materials whi-ch were stored in the fre-ezer from ‘Payika-ppal’, a hotel near Dewasom Board Jn. Improvement notices were served to these eateries.
