TDB incurs loss of over Rs 100 crore

Two days after the Sabarimala temple was closed, Mr Padmakumar said that the revenue loss was Rs 98 crore.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Travancore Devaswom Board has suffered a loss of over Rs 100 crore during this pilgrimage season at Sabarimala. TDB president A. Padmakumar said that this would affect the day-to-day activities of the devaswom, but he hoped that the government will earmark more funds for it in the budget.

Two days after the Sabarimala temple was closed, Mr Padmakumar said that the revenue loss was Rs 98 crore.

"If the bid on the shops is also considered, the total loss would be over '100 crore. I am confident that the government would help us out," he said.

The salary disbursement, pension and other activities of temples would be affected, especially if government funds are not received.

The Sabarimala temple will be reopened during the Malayalam month of Kumbham on February 13.
