Kurnool: Backward communities demand 75 MLA, 10 MP seats
Kurnool: Ticket aspirants from Backward communities have been stepping up pressure on the party leadership to give them a chance.
TD faces the problem in Mantralayam, Dhone and Adoni constituenc-ies. K.E. Krishnamurthy was seen as a stumbling block for new BC leaders in the district. YSRC has also been under pressure from BC leaders. This may see a new composition of caste representation fighting in the next general elections.
BC sankshema sangham president Nakkalamitta Srinivasulu has urged all political parties to reserve 75 MLA seats and 10 MP seats for the backward classes in the next general elections in the state.
He was addressing mediapersons at the state guest house here on Tuesday, and said that all political parties, including ruling and Opposition parties, were just using members of backward communities for vote banking. He urged to reserve at least one MP seat in every district.
Nakkalamitta Sriniva-sulu also asked to give a honorarium of Rs 5,000 per month to the BC unemployed youth.
He wants the Central government to introduce the BC Bill in Parliament giving 50 per cent Constitutional reservation in the legislative bodies to BCs.
An agitation will be launched across the country if the BCs are not given quota as demanded, he warned. Srinivasulu said that BCs were facing more severe problems than SCs and STs in the absence of beneficiary schemes by the government.
Praja Sangala Joint Action Committee convener B. Satyanna demanded to place Goudappa's statue in Parliament and to introduce a chapter on his history in the school text books.
He addressed the birth anniversary ceremony of Muthukur Goudappa sangam organised by various caste based association at Ambedkar bhavan here on Tuesday.
Srinivasulu said that Goudappa was the first freedom fighter in Rayalaseema region.
The Sangham had set up a statue of the great freedom fighter Goudap-pa at Ternakal village in Devenakonda mandal.
Srinivasulu called upon the people to take inspiration from the fighting spirit of Great national leaders such as Muthukur Goudappa.
He said that they will also install statues of leaders such as Alluri Seetharama Raju, Subash Chandra Bose, Patel, Gandhiji and others, at rural areas to inspire the people, especially youth, to remember the great leaders' freedom fighting spirit. There is a need to encourage these types of activities by the Governments, he said.
Former Minister Mulinti Mareppa, BC Sanskhema Sangham National Secretary Nakkalamitta Srinivasulu, BC Federation president G. Seshapani, BC SC/ST and Minority Students’ Association state president J. Lakshmi Narsimha and others were present.
