Karnataka government to High Court: Special team to probe Ajitabh Kumar case
Bengaluru: The state government on Monday in a memo before the High Court submitted that a special team has been constituted as per the earlier directions of the court to investigate the mysterious case of techie Ajitabh Kumar, who has gone missing since December 18.
However, when the advocate for the petitioner, submitted that it would have been appropriate to include senior officers from state intelligence department, the court said that it does not feel the necessity to pass such orders at this stage, as the police commissioner has formed a team with whom he has confidence in securing results in the progress of the investigation.
The court directed the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner to get day-to-day report and prepare an analysis of the steps undertaken by the team and bring it to the notice of the court. The commissioner should also mention whether he is satisfied with the day-to-day progress in the investigation, along with specific directions given to the team. The matter is adjourned to January 29.
The court is hearing the plea of Ajitabh's father seeking a CBI inquiry. Ajitabh went out of the house, saying he was meeting a prospective buyer for his car which he had advertised on OLX.
HC raps state government
The High Court took state government authorities to task for failing to clear illegal structures that have come up in the public property in Kolnadu Gram Panchayat area, Bantwal taluk. The court expressed anguish against authorities for failing to act on the directions of the court and stated that they only wake up when contempt of court or directions for personal appearance are issued.
The court later directed authorities to clear the encroachments within four weeks.
