24-km outer ring road for KCR Assembly constituency
Hyderabad: An outer ring road costing an estimated Rs 180 crore has been sanctioned for Gajwel, the Assembly constituency headquarters represented by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, irrigation minister T. Harish Rao told newspersons on Sunday.
He said the ORR was part of the overall development of the constituency, and land acquisition had been ordered for the purpose. The Gajwel ORR had been planned to avoid heavy vehicular traffic on two important highways — the Hyderabad-Nagpur national highway and Hyderabad-Karimnagar Rajiv Rahadari — between Toopran junction and Pragnapur Junction, said a senior official from the roads and buildings department.
Work on the 24-km ORR is to be completed in two years and would include four-lane radial roads. ‘The state government plans to construct ORRs at all major towns and cities to avoid traffic congestion, and Gajwel would be the first. It will reduce heavy vehicular traffic at the identified bottlenecks” said Mr P. Ravender Rao, engineer-in-chief, roads and building department.
