Anna university question paper leaker arrested

Sources said that Kanchana did not do it for money but to help her nephew, Suresh who sought her help.

Chennai: The CBCID sleuths on Friday arrested the woman who worked at the Anna University, allegedly for leaking the mathematics question paper. The accused has been identified as Kanchana, who has been working at the University for about 13 years as a temporary worker. Sources said that Kanchana did not do it for money but to help her nephew, Suresh who sought her help.

Owing to incessant efforts, the CBCID officers on Wednesday arrested two college graduates K Suresh Kumar and A Harikrishnan. Since Kanchana was working in the Office of Controller of Examination at the Anna University Suresh sought her help. She took a copy of the question paper and gave the copy to Suresh who in turn handed it over to his friend Harikrishnan and also circulated it to others.

Anna University officials were alerted by some anonymous students that the question paper for the Mathematics II paper for engineering stream was already leaked, following which the exam was cancelled and rescheduled. After an initial inquiry, the university was shocked to learn that the question paper had indeed been leaked before the exam.

Dr M Venkatesan, the Controller of Examination of Anna University lodged a complaint at the CBCID office on December 7 stating that the question paper MA6251-Mathematics-II was leaked out much earlier than the actual date and schedule.
