Tamil Nadu: 30 including 15 pilgrims hurt in 2 road mishaps

The bus was on its way to Chinnagkudi from Mayiladuthurai when the mishap occurred.

PERAMBALUR: As many as 30 persons including 15 Sabarimala pilgrims were injured in two separate road accidents in Perambalur and Nagapattinam districts since late on Wednesday.

Police said, 15 Lord Ayyappa devotees were injured when a bus in which they were traveling collided with a stranded lorry at Ayanperaiyur village under Mangalamedu police limits in Perambalur district on Wednesday. The devotees, hailing from Mettukuppam in Villupuram district were on their way home after worshipping at Sabarimala when the mishap occurred. The injured were admitted to Government headquarters hospital in Perambalur, police added.

In the other accident, 15 bus passengers were injured when a state-owned town bus in which they were traveling collided head-on with a Pondicherry Road Transport Corporation bus at Balaveli village near Mayiladuthurai in Nagapattinam district on Thursday. The bus was on its way to Chinnagkudi from Mayiladuthurai when the mishap occurred. The injured were admitted to the Government hospital, Mayiladuthurai
