Chandrababu Naidu making money through Polavaram: Vadde Sobhanadriswara Rao
Vijayawada: “In the name of Polavaram project, CM Chandrababu Naidu and his colleagues have been making money," alleged ex-MP Vadde Sobhanadriswara Rao in a meeting on Polavaram conducted by Krishna Delta Parirakshana Committee on Thursday at Vijayawada. All the participants opined that the project should be completed with full control on quality. There was also no need to hurry it up by setting deadlines of 2018 or 2019.
Major concerns that emerged from this meeting were quality of the project and payment for the families that were to be rehabilitated. The committee also stressed upon the fact that the total fund for the project should be contributed by the Central Government including the rehabilitation. These were the common opinions raised by retired engineers, farmers' associations and political leaders. Mr Sobhanadriswara Rao, who was the chief guest of the programme criticised the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. “Mr. Naidu has been trying to divert everybody's attention towards Polavaram so that he is portrayed as Bhagiradhudu,” Mr Rao alleged. He also accused Mr Naidu and his team of making money in all the projects. “The promise by Naidu of completing it by 2018 is more of a goal set for himself,” Mr. Rao opined.
Meanwhile, YSRC MP Mr. Y.V.Subba Reddy has demanded that the Central Government should take responsibility and should complete the project before March, 2019. He alleged that the State Government was unnecessarily leaning towards a few of the contractors. He informed that they were going to meet Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari on Friday. Mr.Uppalapati Narayana Raju and Retd Superindenting Engineer explained the technicalities of the Polavaram Irrigation Project. They said that the Upper Coffer Dam was needed. The height was 38 metres initially but the State Government had made it 41 metres.
Farmers Associations have opined that the project cannot be completed before 2019. They have questioned the target time of the Government and have also said that by pushing it, it would ruin the quality of the project.Some of the participants have opined that the budget spent for Pattiseema, Purushottamapatnam lift irrigation schemes have to be spent for Polavaram too.
Congress Leaders Ex Minsiter J.D.Seelam, Tulasidreddy, Ex MLC Gidugu Rudraraju and others participated in the meeting. Mr.Kolanukonda Sivaji, convenor of Krishna Delta Parirakshana Samiti, conducted the meeting.
