Centre positive on setting up steel factory in Kadapa

With feasibility report ready on the project, state leaders say they will provide land, power, water and transport facility.

Vijayawada: The Central government has responded positively to the demand for setting up a steel factory in Kadapa. Minister for agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Thursday announced in Delhi that they had met Union minister Chowdhary Birendra Singh and discussed about the steel factory in the presence of Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu.

Mr Reddy, along with minsiter for fisheries and marketing Ch. Adinarayana Reddy, MP C.M. Ramesh and other MLAs and MLCs of Kadapa district, met Mr Birendra Singh and secretary of steel department Ms Aruna Sarma in the presence of the Vice-President. They have requested the Union minister to consider their request on steel factory under the 13th Schedule of AP Reorganisation Act.

Micon has given feasibility report on the project. After studying it, on December 27, again the leaders of AP will meet the minister. They told the Union minister that they are ready to provide land, power, water and transport facility on behalf of state government. With regard to the 130-km railway track, the state government is ready to bear 50pc cost.
