Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court asks businessman to keep cash in K Babu case
Kochi: The Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court has asked the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau to keep the money seized from the house of Mohanan, owner of Tripunithura based Royal Bakers who is alleged to be the benami of former minister K. Babu, in his bank account.
Vigilance judge P. Madhavan on Wednesday asked the Vigilance to deposit '6, 67, 050 in the bank in the name of Mohanan and produce the fixed deposit certificate before the court. The receipt should be produced before December 31. The deposit will be for a period of three years and the amount can’t be withdrawn without the court’s consent.
The court allowed the petition of Mohanan who pleaded to get his money back in view of the post-demonetization crisis. Earlier, he submitted before the court that the money seized by VACB was meant for paying the salary of his employees.
Though VACB suspected Mr Mohanan of receiving ill-gotten money from K. Babu, the agency is yet to produce evidence for the same before the court.
