Karnataka: ACB traps horticulture officer for bribe
Sampath had demanded a bribe of Rs 2.30 lakh for granting subsidy to a farmer towards putting up green house in his agricultural land.
Bengaluru: The ACB sleuths have arrested a horticulture officer in Mandya district for bribery charges. The accused, Sampath Kumar, an assistant officer with horticulture department in Mandya was caught red handed while taking a bribe of '74,000.
According to the ACB, Sampath had demanded a bribe of '2.30 lakh for granting subsidy to a farmer towards putting up green house in his agricultural land. As the state government offers up to 90 per cent subsidy to SC/ST farmers to build green houses on their land, a farmer had approached Sampath.
He initially demanded Rs 2.30 lakh as bribe from the farmer to help him avail the subsidy. Sampath was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
