Hyderabad HC has sought Telangana's version on row over land

Court also seeks response from the government on a petition challenging the canal works.

Hyderabad: The High Court has sought the response from the government on a petition challenging the canal works from Sundilla barrage to the Sripada Yellampally project under the Kaleswaram lift project.

Justice S.V. Bhatt was dealing with the petition by Mr P. Kondal Reddy and two farmers from Goilwada of Anthagaon mandal in Peddapalli district who alleged that officials were not allowing them to go to their farms and confining them to their houses stating that prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 154 had been imposed on the village.

The High Court directed the Enforcement Directorate not to take possession of the companies which were attached in the Bharathi Cements Private Limited case till final orders were given by the appellate tribunal of ED on appeals. Justice Raja Elango was dealing with six separate petitions filed by Revan Infra, Capstone Infra, Utopia Infra, Saraswati Power Silicon Infra and Harish Infra. They said they had a statutory 45 days to appeal.

No relief for pawn broker
The High Court observed that some gold merchants and pawn brokers were encouraging theft of gold by purchasing stolen property. Justice Raja Elango was dealing with a petition by Jeevas Hanumanth Sawanth, a pawn broker from Gulbarga, seeking to quash criminal proceedings initiated by Parigi police of Ranga Reddy district for alleged purchase of stolen gold ornaments. He was denied relief.
