Screen S Durga film at International Film Festival of India: Kerala High Court

The petitioner however submitted that the film had U/A certification without any visual cuts.

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday ordered the screening of Sanal-kumar Sasidharan’s S Durga at the International Film Festival of India that opened in Goa. The filmmaker moved the court arguing that the Union I&B ministry’s denial of the screening was unconstitutional after a jury selected it for Indian Panorama at the IFFI.

The single bench stated that the ministry’s decision had not “been communicated and there is no order issued other than the press release” about dropping of two films.

Counsel for the Union government stated that the petitioner was trying to screen an uncertified copy of the film and it was a punishable offence. The petitioner however submitted that the film had U/A certification without any visual cuts.

He also pointed out that the Censors had directed modifications and removal of certain words from the soundtrack and change of the title Sexy Durga. The modifications were carried out including the title, and the film is ready for screening.
