New set of IT policies in Andhra Pradesh
Visakhapatnam: The state government seems to be working overtime to attract investments in the information technology sector. Two years after releasing an IT policy and getting little response from big ticket investors, AP government is now all set to release at least another 15 policies. A policy in this regard, the ‘IT promotions policy’, has been released recently. The government had released IT, innovation, electronics, startup and Internet of Things (IoT) policies. In an addendum to the IT policy released last year, the AP government had incorporated certain features of Gujarat’s IT policy.
“The government of Andhra Pradesh has developed a blueprint ‘Re-Imagining Andhra Pradesh – role of e-Governance, Electronics, and IT’ for the development of ICT Industry in the state. The blueprint envisages a large number of conducive policies and simple but effective frameworks being put in place. The blueprint has identified a set of 18 policies and frameworks to realise the vision and goals stated above. The IT policy laid down in this document is one among them,” said the GO MS No. 21 that was released recently for the new ‘IT promotions policy’.
The government’s IT policy envisages to make Andhra Pradesh known as the Silicon Corridor of India and attract investments of Rs 15,000 crore in IT and Rs 40,000 crore in Electronics manufacturing.
