TS power utilities chief apologises to SC for delay in absorbing employees from AP

HYDERABAD: TS power utilities tendered an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court for the delay in absorbing 84 employees who had been allotted to the state from Andhra Pradesh under the AP Reorganisation Act.

Telangana state Transco and Genco chairman and managing director D. Prabhakar Rao tendered the apology in an affidavit submitted against the contempt petition filed by the 84 employees.

Telangana gave positing to 29 Genco and 35 Transco employees while the rest were to be posted in the discoms.

The Telangana power firms also paid salaries and extended service benefits to the employees till September 30 from the date they were relieved. They credited Rs. 20.19 crore to the bank accounts of the employees and submitted the details to the Supreme Court.

A one-man committee appointed to oversee the allocation of employees between the two states submitted its final report on June 20, 2020. Based on this report, the apex court gave its judgment on December 7, 2020. The Telangana power utilities did not oblige.

Y. Sai Satya Prasad and others filed a contempt petition over the inordinate delay in absorbing the 84 employees.
