Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation commissioner and district election officer M. Dana Kishore formed the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee to keep a strict vigil on paid news, advertisements, campaigns on electronic and social media.
All political parties should get clearance from the MCMC prior to any advertisement in print and electronic media. Mr Dana Kishore will be the chairman of the five-member committee.
An MCMC committee member said that action will be taken if false information is posted on social media and the norms applicable to print and electronic media will also be applicable to social media. No publicity campaigns should be conducted at government expenditure. The MCMC committee will begin monitoring from the dat of nominations.
As a precautionary measure the vigilance wing has already started recording the footage of eight news channels to check violations by any political party.
