AP delayed steel plant plan: Centre

The union minister had directed the task force to submit a feasibility report within a month.

Anantpaur: Hopes are yet alive on the long pending proposed steel industry in Kadapa district. The Centre blames state government for not furnishing details to the task force team led by Mecon agency. Mecon had inspected Kadapa district along with proposed and feasible locations to set up the steel industry in the district a few months ago. The task force team of Mecon had interacted with the district administration and state government officials. The union minister had directed the task force to submit a feasibility report within a month.

Interestingly, the recent review meeting by Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh observed that the AP state government was yet to provide necessary details about availability of iron ore and other materials.

“The implementation of major projects related to the steel sector one week ago instructed MECON to give its technical report to the task force immediately without waiting for any other details that are yet to be provided by state government.”
