Telangana: 2 new hospitals, sops for doctors
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has asked officials to identify two land sites along the Outer Ring Road to build big hospitals to cater to the health needs of the increasing population.
Mr Rao sanctioned 4,540 new posts for the hospitals under the State Vaidya Vidhana Parishad.
While the requirement in area hospitals run by the Vaidya Vidhana Parishad 3,900, the officers informed Mr Rao that there was an additional requirement of 640 posts in the upgraded 13 area hospitals.
Mr Rao instructed the officials to expedite the recruitment of doctors, nurses and para medical staff to keep pace with the increase in patient number.
The Chief Minister signed on a file pertaining to the cash incentives to be given to doctors who were taking on an extra burden in view of more patients turning up at government hospitals.
Mr Rao was speaking at a review meeting on the medical and health department at Pragathi Bhavan on Saturday.
He assured that the government would examine a proposal to increase the retirement age for assistant and associate and professors posts in teaching hospitals from 60 years to 65.
Mr Rao asked officials to give promotions to all eligible doctors without delay.
The Chief Minister asked officials to relax restrictions on doctors working in remote areas and agency areas that require them to stay in the local areas, and allow them to stay in nearby towns.
The other decisions taken at the meeting include that proposals should be sent to the government on the new buildings to come up in the place of the dilapidated buildings of hospitals.
Besides new buildings for the hospitals, residential quarters should be constructed for the doctors and staff.
Mr Rao wanted shelters to be built for those accompanying patients and arrange facilities at the big hospitals.
Keeping in view the increasing floating population in the city, two major hospitals like the NIMS should come up along the ORR but not on the Warangal highway where there is AIIMS at Bibinagar. Maternity hospitals should also come up here.
The Chief Minister wanted officials to prepare a comprehensive report on government hospitals, buildings, lands and other assets.
