Kochi: Ernakulam witnessed 454 confirmed dengue and 84 leptospirosis cases this year till October 19.
The dog bite cases so far stand at 4,331 and chickenpox 1,172, the data released by the district medical office show.
The total number of new fever cases in the district put together for the year stand at 1,85,642, the highest number being in July, 44,237, and the lowest in April, 10,436.
Last month a total of 13,911 cases were reported and 8,938 so far this month.
The highest number of confirmed dengue cases was in July last, 190, followed by 110 in June. The least was in March at 8.
The health department claims that no deaths have occurred due to dengue and leptospirosis in the district this year.
Out of 97 confirmed Viral Hepatitis A cases, one has succumbed to it while Viral Hepatitis B, C and E have not led to any deaths. The district has not reported any typhoid cases this year.
A total of 124 malaria cases and 266 H1N1 cases were reported so far this. The maximum number of dog bites was in May at 536 closely followed by 524 in March. The maximum number of chickenpox cases, 176, was in January, followed by 168 in February.
