Hyderabad: Annual event gets official stamp

Nearly three lakh Yadavs attend Sadar every year.

Hyderabad: What started as an annual social gathering of the Yadav community decades ago has now transformed into a prestigious event, covering the entire city.

Sadar was started during the reign of Nizam VII when the Yadavs in erstwhile Hyderabad state used to converge at one place to meet and greet each other. It was conducted initially at Gowliguda and was shifted to Nampally and later to Narayanaguda, where it is currently held.

Dwelling on Sadar’s history, Edla Haribabu Yadav, who is the state general secretary of the All-India Yadav Mahasabha, said that Yadav families do not have time to attend family celebrations due to their vocational commitments. “We cannot leave our homes even for a few days. Initially, families used to take part. Later, the decision was taken to include the cattle. Nearly three lakh Yadavs attend Sadar every year. This time, the government joined by declaring this an official fete,” Yadav said.
