Siddaramaiah promises better deal for policemen
Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has assured that the government will soon revise the salary of policemen and the finance department has been directed to analyse the recommendations made by ADGP Raghavendra Auradkar for the betterment of the police and their families.
While speaking on the occasion of the Police Commemoration Day in KSRP Parade Grounds in Koramangala, Siddaramaiah emphasized that the government would provide support, encouragement and improve the situation for the state police force. Highlighting the supreme sacrifices that the state police have made on several occasions, the chief minister said the police personnel deserve a better lifestyle as policing is not an easy job and cannot be done by everybody.
As for the rise in number of suicides among police personnel, he remarked, “The state government will make an effort to appoint counselors at the district level to help the police. We will also release funds up to Rs 15 crore to build rest houses at Anand Rao Circle for the transferred policemen to ensure their well being.” Regarding education facilities for children of policemen, he said, “Due to their erratic work schedules, round the clock duty, it becomes tough for them to manage and plan good education facilities for their children.” To ensure a better future for the children, the chief minister proposed an initiative to introduce CBSE syllabus schools at many places for children of policemen.
The state government is also providing health insurance to policemen and their family members and regular health checkups. They also intend to provide Rs 400 in cash instead of the ration facility. Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwar and other senior officers were present.
