THANJAVUR: ‘Kho sala (cow farm)’ at Vittal Rukmini Pandurangan temple at Govindapuram near Kumbakonam, has received 37 ‘sahiwal’ cows from Haryana on Friday.

The cows were brought in four lorries-travelling for 12 hours and resting for 12 hours for the past seven days. On their arrival, ‘pujas’ were performed to the cows by Rama Dikshithar and Vittaldas Maharaj and taken to THE ‘Kho sala’.

Vittaldas told presspersons that each cow will yield 15 litres to 20 litres of milk.

Two cows delivered calves while on travel and as the animals were brought with good and safe condition, both the cows and calves arrived safely, Vittaldas said.

“We are happy that sahiwal cows have also been added to 600 cows in the Kho sala from Brindavan, Mathura and Dwaraga,” Vittaldas said.

Devotees welcomed the cows with religious fervour and offered worship.
