Telangana high court notice on no woman on panel

Mr. N. Srinivas, President of the Karimnagar Consumer Council, filed the petition stating that due to non-appointment of women members.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has sought the state government’s response over the non-appointment of women members and other members to the Telangana State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission as well as all the 24 members in the 12 District Consumer Forums.

The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Raghaven-dra Singh Chauhan and Justice A. Abhishek Reddy has issued notices to the Chief Secretary of the State, Principal Secretary of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Civil Supplies Department and the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission directing them to respond to the contentions of the petition.

Mr. N. Srinivas, President of the Karimnagar Consumer Council, filed the petition stating that due to non-appointment of women members and other members to the State as well as all the 24 members in the 12 District Consumer Forums, nearly 3,000 cases were pending before the commission and the litigants approaching the commission were not able to get their pleas resolved.
