Humilated, Pulwama boy kills self
Yawar Ahmed was briefly seized by the troops during a random search.
Srinagar: A 15-year-old Kashmiri boy committed suicide after he was allegedly “beaten up” and “humiliated” by the Army troops in Jammu and Kashmir’s southern Pulwama district earlier this week.
Abdul Hameed Bhat, a local farmer of Pulwama’s Chandagam village, said that his son Yawar Ahmed was briefly seized by the troops during a random search operation following a grenade blast in Tahab area of the district on September 17.
“He confided with his sister that he was roughed up and humiliated by the Army troops who also snatched his identity card. He was also asked to report to the Army camp in Tahab area, about one kilometre from his native village, next day” he said.
