Cleanup drive held at Alappuzha

The drive was inaugurated by District Collector Dr. Adeela Abdulla at 7 am in the beach. The programme lasted till 10am.

ALAPPUZHA: A clean up drive as part of International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day, organised by School of Environmental Sciences and National Centre for Coastal Research (NCCR), was held at Alappuzha beach on Saturday.

The drive was inaugurated by District Collector Dr. Adeela Abdulla at 7 am in the beach. The programme lasted till 10am.

Pamphlets on the advantage of keeping beaches plastic free were distributed to the wayside vendors and local people.

The plastic materials collected from the beach were handed over to Suchitwa Mission authorities.

Waste bins were installed in the beach as part of the campaign.

Volunteers including research fellows at School of Environmental Sciences (SES) and students of SD College, Alappuzha took part in the drive.
