TRS MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy's sister in law hangs herself
Hyderabad: Gutha Srilatha, the sister-in-law of Gutta Sukhender Reddy, the TRS MP from Nalgonda, committed suicide on Thursday.
The police said that she hanged herself in the hall of her residence in Chityala while her daughter was asleep in the next room. According to the suicide note left behind by her, she was worried about her children’s future.
Srilatha had been living in Chityala town of Nalgonda district along with her husband Mahender Reddy, who is Sukhender Reddy’s brother, and their two children.
The couple earned a living by farming; their daughter, Mounika, is an M.Tech student and their son, Chintu, is preparing for the Eamcet exam.
On Thursday morning, Mahender went to the fields at around 6.30 am, leaving Srilatha and Mounika at home. After a while, Mounika went to her room and fell asleep.
“A couple of hours later, when Mahender returned home, he found that the door was locked from inside. When he received no response after knocking repea-tedly, he peeped through the window and saw that his wife was hanging from the ceiling,” said V. Balagopal, the Sub-Inspector of Chityala.
He was able to break down the door with help from the neighbours, but Srilatha was already dead by then.
The police said that a suicide note written in Telugu had been recovered from the house. It read, “Any mother would wish for her children to be happy. I am not at fault, but I do not have the courage. My only worry is that Chintu’s education will be disturbed. Chintu, the path you have chosen is good. Study well and get a job. Chintu and Mounika, forgive me.”
A case of suspicious death has been registered based on a complaint filed by Mahipal Reddy, the deceased’s brother.
