Tamil Nadu: Senthil Balaji seeks bail in job scam case
CHENNAI: Former transport minister and a disqualified MLA from TTV Dhinakaran group, V Senthil Balaji has approached the Madras High Court seeking anticipatory bail fearing arrest connection with an alleged job scam.
In the petition, Senthil Balaji said that Ganesh Kumar, an employee of Government Transport Corporation, Chennai, lodged a complaint on December 26, 2016. On his complaint, Madras High Court on September 8, directed the Central Crime Branch, Chennai to file FIR if cognizable offence is made out. Based on this, FIR was registered against Senthil Balaji and three others on September 9.
He said that current government perceives that he was against the government and Speaker disqualified him and 17 other MLAs. "The government seeks to wreck vengeance against me," he said.
Ganesh accused him of collecting Rs 95 lakh for providing employment opportunities to 16 persons in the Corporation. Ganesh deliberately implicate him in the offence.
He said "Ganesh gave the false complaint 23 months ago and I was not holding the post as minister from July 29, 2015".
He said the state police intercepted a van in which he was traveling along with other 17 MLAs. And, cops making frantic efforts to arrest him based on the false complaint. Hence, he sought anticipatory bail in the event of arrest. The matter will come up for hearing soon.
