Hyderabad: Father not informed about son's death
Hyderabad: The bodies of Shivakanth Reddy and Ashok Kumar, medical students from TS and AP who drowned in the Dnieper river in Ukraine on Tuesday, will reach home on Saturday.
Officials in Ukraine are completing the processes to send the bodies back home, said chief executive officer of Neo Consultancy, Dr Raj.
The Zaporozhye State Medical University declared a holiday and students in a ceremony commemorated the heroic death of their colleagues while saving a drowning person.
Mr Janga Reddy, the father of Shivakanth Reddy, has not been informed about his son’s death. “We will tell him on Saturday when we receive the body” said Mr Dinesh Reddy, a family friend.
“He was the only son in the family. Being the eldest child, he was given all responsibilities,” said Mr K Suresh, a relative.
They were scheduled to return to India in six months.
Ashok Kumar's father M. Sivaiah, said they received information from varsity officials that the duo drowned while playing beach volleyball. The incident occurred on Tuesday late evening according to reports.
