Ballari-Hyderabad udan flight launched
Hyderabad: Flight service between Ballari and Hyderabad was launched on Thursday as part of UDAN regional connectivity scheme by the Union government.
Jayant Sinha, Union minister of state for civil aviation, launched the inaugural flight consisting 30 passengers. The flight departed from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 6.25 am and landed at Jindal Airport at 7.31 am. TruJet is operating the daily services with its 72-seater aircraft.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr Sinha said that efforts were on to extend the UDAN scheme to other tier-II cities in the country. He noted that the UDAN scheme would assist in boosting the tourism sector.
“It is also meant for the common man to fly at an affordable cost. Thirty more airports will be added to the scheme to benefit the local economy and the tourism sector,” he said.
Santosh Lad, minister for labour, B. Sriramulu, MP, and Sajjan Jindal, chairman and managing director of the JSW Group, were present on the occasion.
