J&K: 1 terrorist killed in encounter with security forces in Bandipora

Srinagar: An encounter is underway between Indian security forces and terrorists in Aragam village of Bandipora in Jammu and Kashmir.

One terrorist has been killed in the encounter, said reports.

 

An army officer was quoted as saying that the encounter erupted after forces cordoned off a house located in the forests in Aragam village. A few militants were suspected to be hiding in the house.

“The firing is going on between the two sides,” the report quoted him as saying. CRPF, police and army jawans have encircled the area.

Thursday's encounter is the fourth skirmish between hiding militants and security the forces in the past three days.

Meanwhile, two operations are on in Kupwara's Nowgam Sector and Baramulla's Lachipora area, where two infiltration bids were foiled by the Army.
