Hyderabad: Penna Pratap Reddy says CBI failed to nail him

Justice M.S.K. Jaiswal was hearing a petition filed by Mr. Reddy, Chairman of Penna Group of Companies.

Hyderabad: Industrialist Penna Pratap Reddy on Wednesday contended before the Hyderabad High Court that the CBI has failed to place any evidence to show that he got any personal benefits from the illegal investments case against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Justice M.S.K. Jaiswal was hearing a petition filed by Mr. Reddy, Chairman of Penna Group of Companies, seeking to quash the criminal proceedings that were initiated by the CBI in the illegal investments case.

Mr L. Ravichander, senior counsel appearing for the petitioner, submitted that the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh government allotted 231 acres of land in Yadiki mandal of Ananthapur as per the rules and regulations of the government based on an application from the company.

He said that decisions of the board of directors cannot be attributed to the petitioners. And when there was no evidence of bribing government servants, invoking the Prevention of Corruption Act against the petitioner is illegal and against to the judgment of the Supreme Court.
