TC must for joining government schools: APPSA

According to its representatives, government schools are also admitting students without getting TCs from the previous schools

Kakinada: The Andhra Pradesh Private Schools’ Association (APPSA) cautioned parents who are taking their students from private schools and joining them in government schools, without submitting transfer certificates (TCs), study certificates and conduct certificates from the private schools. Unless the parents took TCs and other certificates from private schools or previous schools, students would suffer in future as these certificates, in particular from Class IV, were compulsory for their future career, it said.

According to its representatives, government schools are also admitting students without getting TCs from the previous schools. “Almost 60 per cent of new enrolment in government schools are from private schools and many of the students did not submit their TCs and other certificates since last year. How is it valid to the future of the students?” questioned legal advisor of Andhra Pradesh Private Schools Association M. Srivijay.

Krishna district president of the association G. Mohana Rao said many parents did not pay tuition fees last year and joined government schools without taking TCs and other certificates. “Already one year has passed and they have been promoted to the next class. If they want TCs from private schools, they can get it on the present date, but not the previous date and it may not be valid in future. If the student wants to go join any government jobs in future, he should submit study certificates from Class IV,” he said and advised the government and parents to take TCs and other certificates from private schools and then join the students in government schools in the proper way.

Recently, the government issued instructions that parents should submit TCs and other certificates within one month after joining. But it did not clarify about the previous academic year prospectus. As per the new education policy, TCs are compulsory for Class IX and X. If students join Class VI, VII or VIII, they can be treated as private students, if they are not submitting TCs, according to an education department official.
