Telangana govt files new affidavit on civic polls

The state government on Wednesday filed an additional affidavit before the court with the relevant evidence.

Hyderabad: As the Telangana High Court rapped the state government for filing an affidavit which failed to prove that whether it had complied with the municipal law in completing pre-poll process to conduct elections to urban local bodies, the state government on Wednesday filed an additional affidavit before the court with the relevant evidence.

Mr Arvind Kumar, the principal secretary of the municipal department, submitted that the state government has completed the pre-poll process, except for setting apart seats for STs, SCs, BCs, women, and general in elections, finalization of ward reservations by the district collectors and finalisation of reservation for the offices of mayors and chairperson.

He submitted that all activities including deli-mitation of municipalities into wards, Ward wise publication of voters list, ward wise publication of ST, SC, BC, and women Voters, final publication of polling stations, procurement, and distribution of election material, were completed according to the rules prescribed.
