Telangana pulled up on child rights chief
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the Director of Women and Child Welfare of Telangana state to appear before it on August 28 to explain the reasons personally for the delay in appointing chairperson and members to the TS Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Justice A. Rajasheker Reddy was dealing with a petition by Pochampally Achyuta Rao honorary President of Balala Hakkula Sangham challenging the inaction of the authorities in appointing the Chair-person and members to the child rights commission.
Petitioner’s counsel informed the court that the authorities have postponed the interview for the selection of the members scheduled in March this year. When the judge sought response from government counsel, the latter requested for time to get instructions. Stating that so far they had sought adjournments six times, the judge refused to grant time and ordered the presence of the director.
