Police put BJP MLA Raja Singh under house arrest
Hyderabad: The North Zone Task Force has placed BJP MLA Raja Singh into preventive custody in his residence on Tuesday morning. According to Police, Singh was planning to hold a protest in front of Hyderabad police commissioner's office at Basheerbagh against slaughter of cows for Bakrid. Speaking to media, he had said he would start an indefinite hunger strike until his demands were met. He also and demanded that the police closed cases on his followers filed in Mangal Ghat and Afzalganj Police Stations.
In a video message released by him, the Goshamahal MLA had said, “Even if the police places me under arrest, I will continue the strike in jail.” The legislator said the government must take action on the butchers in Old City who allegedly bought cows and calves for slaughter. Earlier, cases were registered against Singh and Gau Rakshaks for allegedly assaulting police officers and obstructing them from doing their duty on August 18.
