Kodagu floods: Businessman cuts back on house warming, donates Rs 1 lakh

Hailing from a humble background, Anand said that he can feel the pain of people of Kodagu, who have lost their houses and property.

BENGALURU: A Bengaluru businessman has decided to cut back on his house warming function and donate Rs 1 lakh for Kodagu flood relief. The businessman, Anand, was all set to enter his new house in city on August 24 on the day of Varamahalakshmi festival and had invited all his guests for the function. Hailing from a humble background, Anand said that he can feel the pain of people of Kodagu, who have lost their houses and property.

It is not good on our part to celebrate when our people are stranded without food and shelter. Anand said that he has handed over Rs 1 lakh in the form of a cheque to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday evening and said that he will enter his new home with a small pooja. Prayers for flood-hit
Workers of pro-Kannada outfit Jaya Karnataka offered special prayers at various temples across the city for the flood affected Kodagu.

Rajya Sabha member Rajeev Chandrasekhar thanked the citizens for their overwhelming support in providing relief supplies to Kodagu and said that his media organisations have already dispatched 32 truck load of relief supplies.
I have already reached out to many corporates from across India to help rebuild Kodagu. He added that he will personally donate '10 lakh.
