Posts vacant but AP is just not recruiting
Visakhapatnam: Thousands of youth are disappointed with the delay in issuing notifications to recruit staff for thousands of vacant posts. Though the AP State Public service Commission has announced its calendar year, the aspirants doubt whether it will stick to it. The APPSC had anno-unced that it would release the notification to recruit assistant executive engineers in engineering services, assistant motor vehicle inspectors in the transport department, drug inspectors in the Drug Control Administration among others in July or August.
With August coming to an end, the delay in releasing notifications has led to confusion among aspirants, said Mr V.V. Srinivas of DYFI and B. Kantha Rao of the YSR Student Union-AP. “We have several doubts on the credibility of the APPSC,” they said. If the job notification is delayed, the entire schedule — which includes the examination and declaration of results among others — will be changed and it will also affect our preparation, said Mr Aditya K, a BTech graduate of Andhra University.
“I have been waiting for the notification for the posts of assistant motor vehicle inspector in the transport department but there is no sign of it,” he said. If the delay continues, some people may cross the age limit for the posts, Mr Aditya said. Sources said that the government had not given the list of vacancies under various categories (community and others) in various departments to the APPSC. This had led to the delay in the issue of notifications.
The finance department has not given its nod to fulfil at least 30 per cent of vacancies in the various departments. The APPSC conducted the Group-II examination recently but come under criticism when computers stalled at some centres. Commission chairman P. Uday Bhaskar said he would discuss issuing job notifications as per calendar with the government. This could not convince some students of Andhra University.
A large number of students has joined private institutes for coaching. They are a disappointed lot after spending huge amounts on classes. The APPSC has raised some hopes by releasing its calendar year but now it has disappointed a lot, said Mr P. Anil Kumar, an MSc graduate.
