Case against Bigg Boss, actors for poor portrayal of nadaswaram
Chennai: A criminal defamation petition has been filed before a city court against actor Kamal Hassan and Vijay Tv for portraying ‘nadaswaram’ in bad light in Bigg Boss reality show recently.
K.R. Kukesh, President, Tamil Nadu Isai Vellalar Ilaignar Nala Sangam, has filed the defamation petition before the XIV Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Egmore at Allikulam on Monday, against actor Kamal Hassan, host of the popular reality show, Vijay TV,
V. Sakthi, a former contestant in the show and Endemol India Pvt Ltd, Mumbai for depicting ‘nadaswaram’ in defaming manner.
He said on July 14, 2017, Sakthi was acting as a ‘nadaswaram’ exponent. He was holding the ancient musical instrument and throwing it from one hand to other hand. He kept the instrument on dining table while consuming food.
The action not only insulted the Isai Vellalar community but also ‘nadaswaram’. The action of Sakthi and others was disrespectful to the instrument and the community. This was defamatory and hence, they committed an offence punishable under sections 499 and 500 IPC. He sought the court to punish them under section 500 IPC.
