Incessant Rains Bring More Flood to KLIS Barrages

Warangal: High volume inflows were recorded with a rising trend at several minor and major irrigation projects in erstwhile Warangal and Karimnagar districts on Saturday with the upper catchment areas have been lashed by the incessant rains for the past few days due to the cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.

The Godavari water level at the Pushkar Ghat in Ramannagudem of Mulugu district was recorded at 14.04 m and was on the rise since Saturday morning. The officials will announce the first level warning to the people under the catchment areas of the Godavari river if the water level touches 14.830 m.

The Sammakka Sagar barrage at Eturnagaram in Mulugu district was receiving 8,74,330 cusecs of inflow and 59 gates were lifted to release 8,74,330 cusecs, maintaining 5.58 tmcft of storage against its FRL of 6.94 tmcft.

In Rajanna Sircilla district, the flood into Mid Manair Dam (MMD), where the storage was 15.34 tmcft against 27.5 tmcft, was pegged at 3,000 cusecs and 3,160 cusecs were discharged by lifting four gates.

Meanwhile, the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) in Karimnagar was getting 7,417 cusecs and the outflow was 250 cusecs. About 12.221 tmcft of water was currently stored at the project against 24.034 tmcft.

The officials lifted 75 gates of the Lakshmi barrage (Medigadda) in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district to release 6,25,500 cusecs as the project was getting 6,25,500 cusecs of inflow. The current storage was 8.64 tmc against 16.17 tmc.
The Saraswathi barrage (Annaram), with 1.25 tmc of current storage against 10.87 tmc, was receiving 59,743 cusecs and letting out 1,03,077 cusecs of flood through 40 gates.

The Parvathi barrage recorded 2,24,400 cusecs of inflow and 1,75,900 cusecs of discharge through 60 gates. The barrage has a current storage of 1.11 tmcft out of 8.83 tmc.

At Sripada Yellampalli Project, 2,23,973 cusecs of inflow was recorded and 2,62,556 cusecs of flood were let down through 26 gates. The present storage here was 17.980 tmc against 20.175 tmcft.
