Adilabad: All the irrigation projects in the Adilabad district continue to receive huge inflows and the irrigation officials are discharging the water downstream on Saturday.
The Kadam irrigation project is getting huge inflows and officials are discharging the surplus flood to avoid any flood threat to the project on the second day.
Heavy flood water was flowing at the Kuntala with Kupti Vagu in spate following the heavy rains in the upstream areas in the Boath and Bhajarhathnoor mandals and also in the bordering Maharashtra state.
The Pochera waterfall was also flowing high. Both these waterfalls have been closed off to visitors by the officials till July 24 to avoid any untoward incident.
Komaram Bheem project in Asifabad, Sripada-Yellampalli, Mathadi Vagu, Sathnala, Gaddanna Vagu and many other small and medium irrigation projects received heavy inflows.
The bridge located between Mallampet and Neelvai village in Kotapalli mandal sank, disrupting the road connectivity to 50 villages and officials were making efforts to repair the bridge to restore the road links to the area.
Vehicular movement came to a halt between Anandpur of Jainad mandal of Adilabad of Telangana and Digris of Maharashtra was the flood was flowing over the bridge at Anandpur.
Meanwhile, a body of an unknown person was found in the bushes near Bangariguda Colony and it was said that it came adrift in the flood water in Adilabad town.
The backwater of the river Penganga entered Sangidi, Bedoda, Kanganpur and Dahegaon and Mangroor villages in Bela, and transportation to these villages was affected.
On the other hand. the officials rescued a farmer, Rajaiah, who was caught in the flowing stream on the outskirts of the Fasigaon gram panchayat in Rebbena mandal in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district. MLA Atram Sakku and collector Hemant Bhorkhade visited the place and monitored the rescue operation.
Rive Penganga was overflowing with flood water and the water level nearly touched the bridge on NH-44 near Dollara village. The flood water touched the bottom of the old bridge constructed in 1958 on river Penganga.
