Thiruvananthapuram: Over 680 people at relief camps

It is learnt that around 680 people have been displaced and are at various relief camps in the district.

Thiruvananthapuram: Hundreds of people in the coastal areas have been displaced as the rough sea erodes the coastline in the district. According to reports, around 170 families from coastal areas including Valiyathura, Vettucaud, Shangumugham, Cheriy-athopphave been moved to relief camps by the district administration.

It is learnt that around 680 people have been displaced and are at various relief camps in the district.

The district administration has opened six relief camps in the district. District collector K. Gopalakrishnan said that charge officers have been deployed at each camp.

He said that revenue officials have been deployed to provide food and other emergency supplies for the people at the relief camps.

Relief camps have been opened at Valiyathura Buds School, Valiyathura Government UP School, Fisheries Technical Sch-ool, Valiyathura Fisher-ies Godown, Pettah St Roch’s High School and Vettucaud St Mary’s LP School, officials said on Sunday.
