Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rain till Wednesday
Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological D-epartment (IMD) has warned of heavy rain in the state till Wednesday. A red alert has been issued for Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts on Monday and Kannur and Kasargod districts on Tuesday. Orange alert: Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Kasargod (Monday), Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode,Wayanad (Tuesday), Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasargod (Wednesday) and Kozhikode (Thursday).
Strong winds from north-westerly direction with speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph are likely along and off Kerala and Karnataka coast, south Tamil Nadu and over Lakshadweep areas till Tuesday.
High waves in the range of 3.7- 4.3 metres are forecast till 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday along the coast of Kerala from Pozhiyoor to Kasargod.
Southwest monsoon has been active over the state on Sunday. Rain occurred at most places in Lakshadweep. Heavy to very heavy rainfall reports in cm are: Vadakara 17, Thalassery, Hosdurg10 each, Idukki, Quilandy, Taliparamba, Kudulu 8 each, Kannur, Irikkur 7 each and Mahe 11.
The other chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: Vellanikkara, Chalakudy, Peerumade, Thodupuzha, P-erinthalmanna and Ponnani 6 each; Alappuzha, Mavelikkara, Agathi, Kochi airport, Piravom, Ernakulam south, Konni, Kurudamannil, Kozha, Vaikom, M-yladumpara, Alathur 5 each; Aluva, Perumbavur, Karipur airport, Kozhikode, Kottayam, Chengannur, Cherthala, Haripad, Mancompu, Munnar, Enamackel, K-odungallur, Kunnamkulam, Kollengode 4 each; Amini (Lakshadweep), Punalur, Palakkad, Ottappalam, Pattambi, Thrithala, K-anjirappally, Irinjalakuda, Manjeri, Kuppady, M-ananthavady 3 each; Nedumangad, Aryankavu, Kollam, Kayamkulam, Chittur, Ambalavayal 2 each; Minicoy, Varkala 1 each.
