BENGALURU: With the construction of TenderSure roads the flow of traffic is impeded in some areas, but there are crossings which remain choked.
The commuters witness harrowing time at the road opposite to NIMHANS convention centre at Lakkasandra. For pedestrians too the road is a nightmare as the construction of the skywalk is yet to be completed and the footpath is in bad shape.
“The footpath is not at all wide. Moreover, it is covered with debris. The pedestrians are forced to walk on the road and it could result in accident. This is one of the busiest roads in the city and the pedestrians have a harrowing time,” said Dinesh, who commutes daily from Lakkasandra to Bannerghatta.
In the past two years, twitter was flooded with requests addressed to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagare Palike (BBMP) to construct a skywalk near NIMHANS, and, finally, the project took off the early this year, but the work is far from over.
According to the statistics released by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), the area tops the chart in air pollution. The board has put NIMHANS under sensitive zone due to the presence of a hospital.
“The dividers are high and it is virtually impossible to climb and cross the road. Since we are dependent on BMTC buses we virtually scrape through the route to cross the road. At night the crossing is more difficult. This is the case with the skywalks across the city. At several places it remains unfinished,” said Rajeev Prasad, a local resident.
