Orange alert in Kodagu

An unauthorised building collapsed at Galibeedu and a notice had been issued to the jurisdictional nodal officer seeking a report from him.

Mysuru: Even as the Indian Meteorological Department issued an orange alert, predicting heavy rainfall in Kodagu from July 19 to 21, minor landslides occurred at four places in Galibeedu gram panchayat limits in the district on Saturday and Sunday. Kodagu DC Anees Kanmani Joy said that minor landslides occurred along two rural roads and on NH 275 near Madikeri. Engineers and workers cleared the roads for traffic within a few hours of landslides.

The DC issued another advisory in the wake of IMD's orange alert, till July 24. In the advisory, she appealed to the people to take precautionary measures in the wake of heavy rain forecast.
