KAKINADA: The YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday gave a call for observing a state-wide bandh on July 24 in protest against the attitude of the Union government, the BJP, the Congress and other parties towards granting Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. He also asked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to get mass resignations from the party MPS and launch a hunger strike to press for the state’s demands.
Speaking to reporters at his Praja Samkalpa Yatra camp on Saturday, Mr Jagan said that the state bandh would reflect the agony of the people of Andhra Pradesh and express their feelings towards the Centre. “What did the Chief Minister achieve with his no-confidence motion?” he asked Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy said if the TD MPs resigned from the Lok Sabha and launched hunger strike, the entire country and media would turn their attention on AP and the Union government would have to come down on its knees and grant SCS to AP. The YSRC MPs who resigned recently would also join with the TD MPs in the hunger strike, he said. Mr Jagan appealed all the parties and other organisations cooperate with the state bandh in the interests of the people.
