Jaipur: In yet another incident of mob lynching, a Muslim man was killed following attack by a group of people on suspicion of cow smuggling on Saturday.
The incident took place in Alwar district. The deceased is identified as 28-year-old Akbar Khan. According to advocate Ishaq Khan, who is neighbour of Akbar, 22-year-old Aslam was also attacked and has been admitted in a hospital at Jhirka in Haryana.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has condemned the attack in a tweet. She said, “The incident of alleged lynching of a person transporting bovines in Alwar district is condemnable. Strictest possible action shall be taken against the perpetrators.” According to the police, Akbar was resident of Kolgaon village in Haryana. He along with one more person was walking with two cows through Lalwandi village in Ramgarh area when they were stopped and questioned by some people who soon started beating them accusing them of smuggling cows.
Aslam somehow managed to escape while Akbar was rescued by the police who reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. A profusely bleeding Akbar was taken to hospital but doctors declared him brought dead. After post-mortem, the body was taken to Akbar’s native village.
“The post-mortem report was not given to us but there were grave injury marks of batons and sticks on his body,” his relatives said. The police have registered case against unidentified persons. IG Jaipur range Hemant Priyadarshi said that two people have been arrested and they are being interrogated to ascertain identity of other people involved in the attack.
