The under-construction building collapsed near Missal Gadi in Ghaziabad on Sunday afternoon.

Ghaziabad: A body was recovered after a five-storey under-construction building collapsed near Missal Gadi in Ghaziabad on Sunday afternoon. Six people have been rescued while several others are feared trapped.

Four teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along with police and fire department have reached the spot and rescue operations are underway.

"4 teams are working on the collapse site. It is a congested area but we have portable equipment which is helping us. There is a possibility that 3 more people are inside. Our aim is to complete the rescue soon and if it stretches till night we're prepared for that too," Sanjay Kumar, NDRF DG, said.

“As soon as we got the information, we responded. A rescue operation is being done on war footing. We have rescued seven people out of whom one died and 6 are in a hospital. Once rescue ops are completed, we will investigate who all are responsible for it,” IG law and order said.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed District Magistrate and Ghaziabad SSP to visit the site and take immediate action for rescue operations along with the NDRF. He has also asked them to lodge an FIR and take action against those guilty.

The incident comes days after an under-construction building collapsed over another building claiming at least nine lives in Greater Noida's Shah Beri village.
