Rain recedes in Kodagu, traffic restored

The average rainfall reported in the district on Friday was 19.49mm.

Mysuru: There was a lull in the rains which have been lashing Kodagu district for the past three days obstructing life. The average rainfall reported in the district on Friday was 19.49mm.

While road connectivity between Bagamandala –Madikeri and all other places has been restored, road connectivity to Kerala is still yet to be normalised with a huge ditch obstructing traffic near Perumbadi check post, according to Kodagu DC Mr Richard Vincent D Souza.

Kodagu has since January this year, recorded 1135.27 mm till July 21. Last year during the same period, 1084.32 mm of rainfall was reported in the district. Meanwhile, reservoirs in the Cauvery catchment area continued to receive good inflow. With good rains in Kodagu, Harangi reservoir had an inflow of 8,137 cusecs with the water level at 2852.89 feet. At KRS, the inflow was 15,073 cusecs and outflow was 1519 cusecs and the level touched 81.20 feet. The inflow at Hemavathi was 19,032 cusecs and outflow was 3,560 cusecs. The water level at Hemavathi stood at 2883.75 feet as against the capacity of 2922 feet. At Kabini, the inflow was 17,500 cusecs and outflow was 1000 cusecs. The water level stood at 2274 feet.
